We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with Anthony and Marlie Love of Traveling While Black on a special three-episode video series highlighting the Kitsap Peninsula as your perfect basecamp for Puget Sound adventures. Their first stop? The cozy, charming town of Poulsbo—where they stayed at the beautifully appointed Hotel Scandi, nestled in the heart of Historic Downtown.

A circular zoom-in emphasizes key towns including Poulsbo, Silverdale, Bainbridge Island, Kingston, Suquamish, Port Gamble, Hansville, Bremerton, Port Orchard, Olalla, and Gig Harbor. Icons represent local attractions such as mountains, trees, boats, museums, and food. The logo for Visit Kitsap Peninsula appears at the bottom with the tagline "The Natural Side of the Puget Sound."

From the moment they arrived via ferry from Seattle, Anthony and Marlie fully embraced Kitsap’s small-town spirit and natural beauty. They began their trip exploring Bainbridge Island, enjoying the flavors and hospitality at Via Rosa 11 and Rolling Bay Café. From there, they traveled across the Agate Pass Bridge to visit the Suquamish Museum, where they learned about the deep cultural roots of the Suquamish people and explored a powerful exhibit featuring traditional weaving and local artistry.

Back in Poulsbo, they dined at Sogno di Vino, tasted their way through Sluys Bakery, and strolled through historic Front Street. A guided walking tour hosted by the Poulsbo Historical Society gave them a deeper understanding of the city’s Nordic heritage and vibrant community. Their day continued with a tour of the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport—a hidden gem offering hands-on exhibits and insight into the Navy’s and Kitsap’s maritime history.

The couple also got to experience the natural beauty of the region through easy outdoor hikes at Port Ludlow Falls and the Port Gamble Heritage Trails, followed by lunch at local favorite Butcher & Baker. With their basecamp in Poulsbo, they were able to explore multiple communities without the stress of packing up and relocating.

This is just the beginning of the story. Later this year, Anthony and Marlie will return to film “Haunted Kitsap,” a spooky, story-filled adventure through some of the peninsula’s eeriest spots. And in the winter months, they’ll capture the magic of Kitsap’s cold-season charm—from comfort food and cozy stays to snowy strolls and peaceful moments along the waterfront.

Want to follow in their footsteps? Book a stay in Poulsbo and use it as your launchpad to explore everything the Kitsap Peninsula has to offer.
