Silverdale’s Waterfront Summer Festival

July 24–26, 2026

Fireworks over Dyes Inlet. A classic hometown parade. Live music on the waterfront. Food vendors, street booths, a beer and wine garden, a community run, kids activities, and a demolition derby to round out the weekend.

This is Whaling Days — Silverdale’s signature summer festival and one of the Kitsap Peninsula’s most beloved community traditions. Held in Old Town Silverdale near Silverdale Waterfront Park, Whaling Days brings together locals and visitors for three days of family-friendly fun along the water.

Whaling Days has been part of the Silverdale community since 1974. The festival is free to attend, volunteer-run, and organized as a nonprofit event that gives back through local charitable donations and scholarships for Central Kitsap students. Come for the entertainment, stay for the waterfront views, and plan enough time to explore one of Kitsap’s most convenient summer basecamps.

What is Whaling Days?

Whaling Days is a free, family-oriented summer festival held in Old Town Silverdale on the last weekend in July. The heart of the festival is the waterfront, where the community gathers for music, food, shopping, kids activities, and classic small-town festival moments.

It is the kind of weekend where you can start with a morning run, watch a parade, grab lunch from a food vendor, browse local booths, listen to live music by the water, and end the night with fireworks or a show. Families will find plenty to keep kids entertained, while adults can enjoy the 21+ beer and wine garden, main stage performances, and nearby restaurants and shops.

Three-Day Schedule at a Glance

Friday, July 24 — Opening Night + Fireworks

Whaling Days kicks off Friday evening with vendors, food, drinks, family activities, and live entertainment. The information booth, street vendors, food vendors, and 21+ beer and wine garden are scheduled from 5:00–10:00 p.m. Candy Cane Lane activities also run during the evening, with a movie planned at 8:00 p.m.

The main stage comes alive from 6:00–10:00 p.m., with Friday’s entertainment lineup featuring Flor De Luna and Harmonious Funk. The big moment of the night is the 2026 fireworks show at dusk, lighting up the Silverdale waterfront and setting the tone for the weekend.

Saturday, July 25 — Parade, Run, Music + Demolition Derby

Saturday is the big festival day, so arrive early and plan ahead.

Start the morning with A Whale of a Run at Kitsap Mall. The event includes a 4-mile run, 1-mile walk/run, kids dash, and Special Olympics dash, making it approachable for families, casual walkers, and competitive runners alike.

At 10:00 a.m., the Silverdale Lions Grand Parade brings classic community festival energy to town. Expect crowds, so find your viewing spot early and give yourself extra time for parking and walking.

From 11:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., street and food vendors are open, along with the information booth and family activities. The 21+ beer and wine garden runs from noon–10:00 p.m., and main stage entertainment fills the afternoon and evening. Saturday’s music lineup includes Danny Vernon, Wyrdoz, Bad Honey, LiquidHorse, Drop It Like It’s Yacht, and 13 Til Midnight.

For something loud, muddy, and memorable, head to Thunderbird Stadium at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds for the KDDA Demolition Derby at 5:30 p.m. It is a separate festival-weekend favorite and a fun add-on for visitors who want to make a full day of it.

Sunday, July 26 — Final Day + Duck Race

Sunday slows the pace just enough to give you time to enjoy the waterfront one more time. Vendors, the information booth, Candy Cane Lane, karaoke, crafts, and Chalk the Park are scheduled from 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The beer and wine garden runs from noon–6:00 p.m., and main stage entertainment continues from noon–5:45 p.m.

Sunday’s lineup includes Champagne Sunday, Megan & Heidi Band, the Rotary Duck Race and Whaling Days Raffle, and Joel Gibson Jr. The Silverdale Rotary Duck Race is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and is a cheerful way to close out the weekend while supporting community work.

Getting There & Parking

Whaling Days takes place at Silverdale Waterfront Park in Old Town Silverdale. The official festival location is 3337 NW Byron St, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Silverdale is centrally located on the Kitsap Peninsula, making it an easy drive from Bremerton, Poulsbo, Port Orchard, Bainbridge Island, and Gig Harbor. If you are coming from Seattle, take the ferry to Bainbridge Island or Bremerton, then drive to Silverdale. From Tacoma and the South Sound, take WA-16 to WA-3 north.

Festival weekends are busy, especially Saturday around the parade. Give yourself extra time, check the official festival map and road closure updates before you go, and consider arriving early if you want to be close to the waterfront.

Make It a Weekend

Whaling Days is easy to enjoy as a day trip, but it is even better as a weekend stay. Silverdale makes a convenient basecamp with hotels, restaurants, shopping, waterfront access, and quick drives to nearby communities.

Friday Night

Arrive in time for dinner, walk down to the waterfront, browse the vendors, and settle in for live music and fireworks. The evening schedule makes Friday a great arrival day for out-of-town visitors.

Saturday

Start with the Whale of a Run or watch the parade, then spend the afternoon exploring vendor booths, grabbing lunch, and enjoying the main stage lineup. Families can linger around the fun areas, while adults can stop by the beer and wine garden. End the day with more music or head to the demolition derby.

Sunday

Take it slower. Walk the waterfront, grab coffee or brunch nearby, return to the festival for final-day vendors and music, and stick around for the Rotary Duck Race before heading home.

Where to Stay

Silverdale lodging fills up quickly during major summer weekends, so book early if you want to stay close to the festival. Staying overnight also makes it easier to enjoy Friday fireworks, Saturday’s full schedule, and Sunday’s more relaxed festival pace.
